Story & Rhyme
Nursery rhymes and stories are vital to develop early communication and language skills and to ensure babies and toddlers become confident communicators. Rhymes and stories also help to develop early literacy and phonic skills, along with developing concentration and social skills. Through regular story and rhyme time, a child will be introduced to an array of new vocabulary, new situations and experiences. They will have the opportunity to develop a host of skills, such as; early phonic skills through rhyming words and alliteration, develop fine and gross motor skills through action rhymes, develop listening and attention skills – to name a few!
At Lavender Early Learning Academy, our bespoke Story and Rhyme sessions are carefully planned by an experienced Early Years teacher, to support a child to meet their developmental milestones. These sessions are taught in appropriate age groups. Over the course of a 6 week block, your child will be engaged in a range of themes; taught through carefully selected stories, matching rhymes and songs, with a selection of props and puppets. The sessions are interactive and aim to develop an early love of reading, whereby children can become immersed in the story and transported to different lands brimming with magic and make believe! Dressing for the theme is optional and not compulsory.
